The thing I liked most about The Gunton Arms was the staff. The food was great too. You feel like you are in a relaxed informal pub. Which you are. With the standard of cooking, the art & the setting it would be very easy to make it feel pretentious. It isn’t. My wife Nel, Beans the whippet & me had the most relaxed & enjoyable meal we’ve had in quite a while. It’s extremely dog friendly. It’s famous for its meat cooked over the fire but that only tells half the story. The cooking is the type I aspire to achieving. Top marks from me.

The art is certainly interesting as I went out to dinner with some friends and they brought their kids and I had to tell them the dinos were fighting and I couldn’t find a diversion for some of the door handles Overall great on everything the steak is great and its all great

This is a quirky and welcoming old fashioned pub. Fantastic setting. It has splendid food with a menu which is far from ‘pub’. Don’t miss the turning 😂

This is the definition of a countryside break from the city, if only for a roast dinner! The staff are exceptional, smart, bright and welcoming. There is pride in presentation, work and quality evident at this restaurant. The building itself, set among the vast reaches of the Gunton Estate, could very easily be described as 'quaint' by our cousins over the pond and makes for an ideal destination if you've guests from overseas. However, if you, like us, have a desire to visit for a stunning Sunday roast then I assure you of your choice. The menu changes regularly and sits comfortably on each table, alongside a sensational wine list and drinks menu. Visitors can enjoy a perfectly poured pint of Guinness at the bar, or have a meander around taking in all of the incredible artwork and feeling the sensations of being in the beating heart of a top tier hospitality business. The food is exceptional - we shared a chicken on this occasion - and the extensive menu was crowned with specials that you'd keep coming back until the end of time for. There is a snug and a lounge area - essential for a post meal flump and gather your strength with a schnifter or a carafe or a powerful coffee. My word. When you've recuperated sufficiently, why not have a little stroll around the estate. There are archways, ponds, pyramids and herds of deer roaming about. It's wonderful, it's wild, it's truly an escape.

Five of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. I could not fault anything. Service, food and general ambience. Well worth a visit.

What an amazing place. We got very lucky with mist making the whole experience sp moody. Food was excellent 👌. The pheasant curry and the chicken pie where excellent and really good value.

Vibe, food, wine, service, location, lighting, decor, ambience…. 11/10 absolutely impeccable. If you want a weekend away to switch off from it all book this immediately and never regret it. Lunch the next day at The Suffield after a circular walk a must. A slice of heaven in Norfolk. If you like brightly lit, soulless modern establishments this is not for you. It’s ALL about the dimly lit atmospheric vibe, scented by woodsmoke. Wonderful!!!!!

As ever, it was busy! At the time, there was a shortage of available seating, but many vacant reserved seats. We were not permitted to use these because the staff had prepped the tables.....they were empty when we arrived, and when we left: their use by us was non-negotiable; our comfort and wellbeing at that time was not a consideration, the staff's focus being on preserving the preparations for the parties that were scheduled to arrive sometime in the future.

Only had a meal there. Very overrated and over priced based on overall experience. I had.a £23 pork chop with roast potatoes clearly reheated from the previous days Sunday lunch and if not they were like rocks. Had to pay 4.75 extra for 1/4 of a cabbage as a side dish. My wife had venison stew which was very under seasoned. The staff had to Google the Rock Shandy I ordered before meal. I was hoping to have a glass of wine with my main course but the serving staff didn't ask if we wished wine. It was a nice meal not a great meal, which is what I had expected given the hype.
